In the Bible, standing stones were built to commemorate times when people had a powerful encounter with God.
WELCOME to the home of the Standing Stones Campaign.
Covenant Heights has embarked on an outstanding journey of faith that we are calling the Standing Stones Campaign. This exciting vision is all about how the camp is planning to improve and leverage our ministry’s impact well into the future based on a very strategic capital campaign. We are seeking to both honor our legacy and embrace our future with the purpose being to better serve guests, families, churches, and campers!
Camp is a sacred place where people encounter God in powerful ways every day. This is precisely why this campaign is all about transforming lives and altering eternities.
We are calling this campaign, Standing Stones—named for the stone memorials throughout Scripture that represent God’s faithfulness and powerful encounters with his people. For example, after God protected the Israelites from the Philistines the Bible says, “Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen. He named it Ebenezer, saying, ‘Thus far the Lord has helped us.’” (1 Samuel 7:12)
Or, in Joshua 3 and 4, where the Israelites are commanded to carry large stones upon their shoulders from the Jordan River so that they might set them up on the opposite side as a memorial. A memorial set up so that “all the peoples of the earth might know that the hand of the Lord is powerful and that you might always fear the Lord your God.”
And not only are standing stones a Biblical image, but if you have ever done any hiking in the mountains you are probably familiar with cairns – piles of stones that not only show from where you have come, but also that mark the way forward. In a similar way, this campaign is both honoring our legacy and embracing the future as we seek to impact another generation of lives for the glory of God.
